Air compressors

Air compressors have a wide range of functions. One of the most common functions of this device is pumping air into tires. However, there are so many other areas in our lives in which compressed air can be very useful. An air compressor is a machine that sucks air from the atmosphere and stores it under great pressure so that it can be used as a source of energy. They come in several varieties:
• Movable or fixed compressors
• Electric powered or fuel powered engine
• Single tank or twin tank

Although fixed compressors are more powerful, movable ones are more expensive due to their convenience.

Single Tank Compressors
Single tank air compressors have one tank and hence a smaller capacity and less power. They are usually used for activities that do not require significant amounts of energy. They are relatively cheap. Their prices range from $50 to $900.

Twin Tank Compressors
Twin tank compressors have two pressure tanks. Therefore, they have a larger air storage capacity and greater power. They are used for high energy demanding activities due to their high level of performance. Twin tank compressors cost as low as $60 and as high as $1500 based on size and quality of performance. They are more expensive than single tank compressors.

Considerations
The type and size of compressor to buy is often determined by its intended use. The higher the amount of energy the work requires to be accomplished, the larger the size of the tank you should purchase. Consider buying a fixed compressor if you intend to use it in a single location. However, a movable compressor may be more suitable for jobs that are not stationary. You can purchase aftermarket air compressor parts to improve the performance of your compressor.

Warning
Air compressors have varying operations. Therefore, read your air compressor manufacturer’s instructions before using it to minimize risk of damage or injury. To prevent injuries, you should also wear protective gear such as gloves and goggles.

Significance
Compressed air produces substantial amounts of energy that is not comparable to human power. Therefore, apart from pumping air into tires, air compressors can be used for tightening and loosening nuts, spraying paint, and driving nails.

Potential
The power produced by air compressors varies. Air compressors with higher horsepower perform better than those with low horsepower. In addition, the performance of an air compressor is determined by the size of its tank. The larger the tank, the better the performance.
